EQUIPMENT / INSTRUMENTATION / CONTROL

Industrial process skids

An integrated package starts with its interfaces. Defining what comes in, what goes out, and who is responsible for each connection avoids ambiguity when comparing proposals.

CONCEPTUAL DIAGRAM · DOES NOT REPRESENT REAL EQUIPMENT, SCALE, OR A SPECIFICATION.

Starting point

What you need to solve

Turn a process function into a clear scope, identifying outstanding interfaces and responsibilities.

General applications

  • Grouping equipment and instrumentation for a defined process function.
  • Preparation, dosing, or conditioning of streams according to needs that must be verified.
  • Integration of new equipment with existing plant utilities and control systems.

These are indicative contexts, not completed projects or performance claims for supplied equipment.

When to consider the solution

Connect the operation to the outcome.

Compare alternatives based on the product, constraints, and acceptance criterion; the equipment name does not determine its suitability.

Information needed

A useful starting point, even if incomplete.

  • Function, product or streams, and expected outcome.
  • Approximate quantity and known conditions; distinguish operating conditions from design conditions.
  • Utilities, cleaning, materials to be verified, and plant interfaces.
  • Available documentation, country of installation, and outstanding acceptance criteria.

Evaluation basis

Variables to define

Share what you know and mark the rest as outstanding. Values, calculations, and applicable requirements must be verified by competent engineering professionals.

V.01Function and outcome
The complete operation the package must perform and acceptance criteria to be defined.
V.02Battery limits
Inputs, outputs, utilities, and connection points that are included or excluded.
V.03Equipment and piping
Existing and new components, compatibility, and maintenance needs.
V.04Controls and instrumentation
Control philosophy, signals, alarms, and interfaces with the plant system.
V.05Layout
Access, space, transport, and installation to be checked against the actual scope.
V.06Responsibilities
Engineering, manufacturing, testing, and commissioning: who is responsible for each part and what documentation is needed.

A shared decision

A common starting point for plant, engineering, and procurement

Plant

Share actual interfaces, utilities, and installation constraints.

Project management

Clarify responsibilities, deliverables, and dependencies on other packages.

Technical procurement

Compare scopes, exclusions, and test criteria without assuming a turnkey supply.

How VPENGINEERING helps

We help you organize the need, identify outstanding information, and prepare a technical discussion with a clear scope. VPENGINEERING does not present itself as a manufacturer: detailed design, manufacturing, and supply conditions require assessment and agreement by the relevant responsible parties.

Compare proposals

Questions for procurement and engineering

  1. 01What process data and conditions support the proposal?
  2. 02What calculations, materials, cleaning, safety, and documentation requirements need verification, and who will verify them?
  3. 03What does the offer include: auxiliaries, instrumentation, integration, testing, and documentation? What is excluded?
  4. 04How will the outcome be verified, and what responsibilities and follow-up have been agreed?

These questions do not constitute design or approval. Testing, certification, maintenance, and commissioning must be confirmed by the competent responsible parties; their availability is not assumed.

Scope and methodology

Technical questions

Before preparing your inquiry

Does a skid imply turnkey supply?

No. The term does not define responsibilities. Engineering, manufacturing, transport, installation, and commissioning must be defined in each proposal.

Can it integrate existing equipment?

It is possible, but condition, compatibility, controls, and interfaces must be checked. It cannot be confirmed without a technical assessment.

What is a battery limit?

It is the agreed scope boundary: the connections and interfaces where responsibility for a process package begins or ends.
